THE ROLE

The Localization Media Engineer will have a range of technical skills which cover the various different engineering tasks in our Media department. They must be analytical and have a problem-solving mindset with the motivation to streamline processes to improve efficiency and minimize human error. A lot of our engineering tasks are dictated by daily deadlines which require a high degree of time management and transparent communication with various stakeholders in order to ensure they’re delivered on time and clearly communicated if there are delays. We work in a team environment where collaboration is part of our work ethos. Having good, clear communication skills with various different departments as well as with our clients is important.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Assessing and providing quotes of Media tasks for new client files. This involves designing efficient processes which meet the client requirements (normally to localize their content in various formats into multiple languages) and estimating the Media time for each step in the process. An understanding of the complete localization workflow which involves the use of CAT tools is essential to designing our processes.
  • Technical understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, with the ability to edit those file formats.
  • Research and test different CMS platforms in order to design engineering processes to efficiently pull content out and back in for localization. This normally happens as part of the assessment stage.
  • Create clear technical documentation for Media processes.
  • File engineering tasks which include using and creating macros to automate processes where possible and editing file formats such as XML, XLIFF, JSON. This involves a proficient understanding of querying languages such as Regular Expressions and XPATH.
  • Streamlining processes to improve efficiency and minimize human error.
  • Problem solving skills are a must as this is a key part of the day to day activities.
  • Meeting deadlines is critical to our success and time management/planning/communication skills are key to delivering on time. Most of the engineering tasks are dictated by deadlines on a daily basis.
  • Have excellent communication skills to be able to convey technical jargon to non-technical people which include our clients.
  • A “nice to have” would be some typesetting skills in Adobe Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

With our remote-first hybrid office model, you will have the option of working in the Denver office or remotely.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

YOU’LL HAVE…  YOU ARE…. 
Ideally have 5+ years experience in a localization engineering role with some knowledge of CAT tools. Self-confident, highly collaborative team player with excellent communication skills to connect with various different stakeholders including our clients.
Experience using various web technologies such as HTML/CSS/JS and CMS knowledge. Analytical and methodical with a good eye for detail.
Some experience with automating processes with the use of macros and various querying languages such as Regular Expressions and XPATH. Someone who is keen to learn and willing to find better ways of doing things.
Strong problem solving ability and high motivation to find solutions.

SALARY & BENEFITS

$60,000 to 65,000 base + benefits (inc. bonus scheme after 12 months).
